My dad shared my grandfather, Ernest Lightner's (Pap), wallet with me one day in 2013, many years after his passing. Among the contents of his worn cowhide wallet was a stack of aged black and white nude Polaroid’s, each with a personalized signature on the backside. My theory is that Pap named each of the females himself and wrote the names, as the scribble-scrabble handwriting is characteristic of his own. Though, I will never know. As a young boy, I spent very little time with my grandfather and he remains a mystery to me. The few facts I do know, is that he was a WWII Veteran and somehow lost his right eye, but no one seems to know how. He also made a habit of chopping up my grandmother’s piano to use for firewood, as he didn't want her to have something of her own.
